Description George Gold Furniture Design and NATIONAL FURNITURE, are two distinct arms of George’s work: the first being unique pieces made specifically for the client, the second represents the pieces George makes in batch production. All George’s work is made from timber sourced from FSC accredited suppliers, the timber is also grown in England, where possible. All the furniture is made in George’s workshops in North London. All the pieces are designed to be both moved and stored and are made to withstand more than a lifetime of service. If being well made is the first ingredient in making furniture which lasts, then its appearance is the second. George’s furniture has a simple, robust elegance which can be traced back to the ‘Arts and Crafts’ movement. This is furniture which will easily absorb the knocks and scrapes of everyday use and is immune to the increasing demands that we should change our furniture more frequently. English furniture has traditionally enjoyed the reputation of being of such quality that it can be passed from one generation to the next. From a Tudor linen press to a 1940’s Crafts Council kitchen chair, longevity is the proof of good furniture making. George sees his work as part of that tradition. A long service life gives a product the best environmental credentials possible and represents real value.
