TAKE A LOOK AT CLIFTON NURSERIES SUMMER BULB COLLECTION FOR 2010 The beautiful and tranquil setting of London’s oldest garden centre is an idyllic spot and this years’ programme of  events at Clifton Nurseries 2010, shows why you don’t need a garden to visit Clifton. Events range from an Easter egg hunt for children, to talks on plant and herbal healthcare, take the opportunity to meet award-winning experts on roses and orchids, or come to one of our wine tastings in London’s largest indoor plant house; join in our spring and autumn plantings or take advantage of our Christmas shopping evenings – there is something to appeal to experienced gardeners and beginners alike. Address: Clifton Nurseries Ltd Location Map 5A, Clifton Villas London W9 2PH EVENTS PROGRAMME AT CLIFTON NURSERIES 2010 March 26th, 4.00pm-5.30pm Easter egg hunt for Children, with picture colouring and spring plant potting tables: £3.00 per child, to include Easter eggs, plants and materials and colouring; pre-booking essential. 50% of takings donated to local charity.
May 27th, 6.30-9pm: Chelsea Garden Party to coincide with Chelsea week. Chance to meet Clifton’s award winning team from previous Chelsea Flower Shows and discuss this year’s Chelsea entries; meet a special guest speaker on the night and buy the plant species that win the prizes at discounted prices. Quiz the experts on what works in your garden and enjoy simple summer food and drink, included in the ticket price of £25.00 or £20 for Friends of Clifton. June 16th, 6.30-9pm: Talk by Elizabeth Peyton Jones on plant medicines and natural remedies. Elizabeth Peyton-Jones is a well established naturopath and Herbal practitioner. She will be advising on safe, preventative health care using remedies you can grow in your garden or buy at a market, as illustrated in her book First Aid Kitchen Remedies, which is on sale at Clifton Nurseries (£6.00). Event free of charge. July 15th, 6.30-8.30pm Orchids and Roses: meet the experts from our specialist grower friends Iven’s Orchids and David Austin Roses and find out how best to get the best from your plants. Orchids can be notoriously difficult to grow and maintain, but our experts will divulge what it takes to keep these beautiful plants in bloom, plus they will reveal the secrets to successful rose cultivation. Ticket price £25 to include wine and food, plus discounted shopping on the night. August 28th, 6.30-9.30: Annual Summer Wine tasting, held in conjunction with award-winning experts ‘The Winery’. Our grape specialist friends will be back from their summer sojourns in search of the finest wines on offer from the ground-breaking, small independent producers of the world. This is the pick of the crop from the vineyard owners whose sole purpose in life is to produce the most beautiful and intriguing wines to hit your palate..ticket price £25 to include all food and drink, £20 for Friends of Clifton. September 22nd, 6.30-9.00pm Autumn Colour Planting: Autumn is the second spring of the gardening calendar, with a rich colour scheme that will cheer your day until the onset of winter. Come and join us to plant up pots and window boxes to create a garden you never knew you had. £ to include all materials and plants. December 1st – 22nd Wednesday evenings until 7.30: late night shopping evenings. Christmas at Clifton is exquisite and offers the chance to buy trees, gifts and decorations while enjoying various talks, workshops and carol singing by local school children. Mulled wine, Christmas cake and mince pie tastings on offer. Free of charge.
