Description
David Mellor Design operates on the simple principle that well-designed equipment can improve your life.david_mellor___image12.jpg

The company was set up by David Mellor CBE, Royal Designer for Industry. Mellor is a key figure in British design with an international reputation as designer, manufacturer and shopkeeper. Born in Sheffield, he has always specialised in metalwork and he is particularly famous for his cutlery design.

David Mellor cutlery
is manufactured in a purpose-designed modern factory in the Peak District National Park. The Round Building, designed by Sir Michael Hopkins, has won numerous architectural awards.

The famous David Mellor
shop in Sloane Square, London, and the Country Shop alongside the factory at Hathersage in Derbyshire, sell
a professional collection of kitchenware and tableware, expertly selected for those who love to cook and eat.

The Sloane Square shop is on two floors and specializes in tableware and kitchenware carefully selected as the best on the international market in terms of design and quality. Many of the productsdavid_mellor___image26.jpg are of their own design and exclusive to the David Mellor shops. The London shop displays the full range of David Mellor cutlery and operates a very personal Wedding List service.

The Country Shop is at Hathersage in Derbyshire, near Chatsworth, in the dramatic High Peak landscape. Here you will find a superb collection of tableware and kitchenware. This shop has a more rural feel than David Mellor Sloane Square with a special emphasis on handmade pottery, woodware, glass and baskets from individual craft workshops. Directly opposite the Round Building cutlery factory, the shop at Hathersage gives visitors the opportunity to buy their cutlery from the place the designs were originally conceived.

Alongside the shop is the Visitor Centre, with the new David Mellor Design Museum and an excellent Café offering tea, coffee, homemade cakes and a delicious light lunch. For more information on the Visitor Centre click here
