Fiona Cox and Lizzie Thornton-Allan launched Cox & Cox Mailorder in 2001. They felt there was a commercial need for unusual, beautiful and practical products which were not easily available from the homogenised marketplace.
As their backgrounds were in catalogue design, marketing, styling, film and photography - they were confident they could create the kind of product range that was missing from other mailorder collections.
This catalogue and website has grown with great PR and loyal customers into the inspiring and unique format you see today. The emphasis on the product selection having a nostalgic and retro feel, taking inspiration from childhood memories, but with a contemporary twist.
Cox & Cox embraces the heartfelt philosophy that it is possible to create a home that is both beautiful and nurturing, taking inspiration from all over the globe. They endeavour to continue the Cox & Cox tradition of ‘have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.’ (borrowed from William Morris!)
