About living in style: catering to the discerning customer. It is a laboratory of research and ideas, of different couture lifestyles. It was developed with both famous and undiscovered designers, artists and artisans worldwide.

HOW IT BEGAN
‘Talented, eclectic individuals with a free reign to develop and showcase their craft’
CoutureLab is the fruit of a vision born over 20 years ago when Venezuelan-born Carmen Busquets developed customized selling - linking an exclusive clientele with unique pieces from renowned and emerging designers. From a retail operation in Caracas in 1990 Carmen grew an international network of customers. Recognizing that geographical location was irrelevant to her luxury clientele, in 1998 Carmen built a private portfolio in online listed companies, knowing that the internet would enable the global luxury formula that she envisaged. CoutureLab was a project Carmen was developing Couture Lab
to her bold founding investment in Net-a-Porter; the world’s leading luxury fashion retail magazine online, of which she is now one of the largest shareholders. For Carmen, finding the eclectic and unique, and discovering creative entrepreneurs came naturally. With the market ready to welcome this alliance of artists, artisans and designers, Carmen is launching CoutureLab as a physical and virtual space for the demanding and discerning global   clientele that she first developed some two decades ago.

To keep the global traditions of craftsmanship alive as we move between cultures; to evolve while relying neither upon fashion nor trends, but pure individuality; to be part of the world of luxury while reflecting its history and creation.

Couture LabHOW IT WORKS
‘A platform to connect the very limited production collections of emerging and
 established designers, artists and artisans with our discerning global clientele’ 
To protect the designers, artists and artisans who produce one-off creations and small collections, and because the product ranges are very limited, they cannot be offered to a large group of people. CoutureLab has formed a membership around a select group existing clients and new members they have referred. Those clients accepted by the Membership Committee have access to the several specialized areas within CoutureLab: VintageLab, PrivateLab, The Gallery and Karma.
