GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY AT CLIFTON NURSERIES
AND CREATE A BLOOMING BOX OF COLOUR FOR YOUR HOME
Autumn is seen by many as the beginning of the years’ end.. marking the closing of summer, the slow, steady descent into winter and the cold dark nights. At Clifton Nurseries, we believe autumn is the second spring of the gardening calendar, with a wonderful choice of richly coloured plants available to cheer up any day, until winter greens and berries take their place; on
September 22nd, 6.30-9.00pm come and join us for a session of ‘Autumn Colour Planting’ – the chance to capture these autumn colours in pots and window boxes, to take home.
The stars of the season include Violas, a very easy plant to start with and to maintain. Delicately scented, Violas are the quick colour fix for any room or window sill, with colour combinations of purple, brown, deep reds, gold and orange. Also at the planting session with be the evergreen Buxus, which lends itself very well to contemporary environments and in the classic ‘ball’ shape, is a classic, smart city plant. Chrysanthemums are spectacular and were very prominent winners at this year’s Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows. Larger and more dramatic than violas, Chrysanthemums create more of a show and will see you through to the end of October. Heather and Ivy varieties offer really creative scope for autumn; heather with its gorgeous textures and rich colour palettes and ivy, with its beautiful shapes, vivid greens and contrasting whites is another plant particularly suited to a more contemporary setting.
Getting your hands dirty in some good rich soil is very therapeutic; at Clifton, staff will provide all the materials, equipment plants - and tuition you need if you’re a beginner. The evening costs £25.00 per person, fully inclusive of all materials plus some tempting light refreshments, plus there will be discounted shopping on the night. So to create the garden you never knew you had, join us at Clifton Nurseries and take home something lasting to make your autumn the brightest it has ever been..
