Joris Laarman’s Bone Armchair
Published by square. April 10th, 2008 0 Comments Designed according to how bones develop, with larger bones forming where strength is required and lesser bones coming into play where strength is of lesser concern, Joris Laarman’s designer Bone Chair comes made from either resin or aluminium and, as far as seating solutions go, chairs really don’t get much more distinctive that this. Produced on a strictly limited edition basis, the bad news for those interested in this highly distinctive chair is that, unfortunately, at the time of writing all units have already sold out. Posted in Furniture Wallfa is an intriguing two sided piece of furniture that is both wall and sofa. It offers a comfortable sitting area that becomes playful when users interact from both sides of the wall. Movement, sound and touch hint at what might be happening on the other side. ‘11′ is a collaboration of two companies - GRO design and Tim modelmakers – each contributing their world-class specialist skills to this showcase project. Exhibited during the Milan Design Week 2008, 16th - 21st April, Via Forcella 8, Milan, Italy For many of us, table football is a game that is close to our hearts, holding cherished memories of our childhood and youth. Its popularity also reflects the passion and love that millions of people around the world share for ‘the beautiful game’ of football. Table football is great fun to play – it’s social, active and physical, and it offers a welcome alternative to the solitary activity of computer gaming. As an object, however, it has become less desirable as its often cost-driven appearance no longer fits in with the designed landscape of modern interiors – be it a café, bar or airport lounge. Inspired by its namesake art form, Origami is an exploration of the affordances of folding materials to create functional and efficient structures that are self-locking and hardware free. Description Composed of two laser-cut and slotted sheets of steel, Origami ships flat and requires no tools or hardware to assemble. One sheet is the negative of the other, eliminating waste during production and giving the table its dynamic form. Once bent, the tables folds lock the parts into place. The tables petal-like surfaces are sturdy and spacious making it a practical and sculptural side table, night stand or plant stand. Posted in Furniture With the XO (1.0), we pushed the boundaries of what a laptop could be by lowering the cost dramatically, being green (no heavy metals, lowest energy consumption ever), and a human-driven unique design approach.
